Richard Pryor’s variety show only aired four episodes in 1977, and of course they had to do a Star Wars sketch.
Pryor plays a bartender running a ‘Star Wars Bar’, populated with aliens wearing authentic costumes from the actual Mos Eisley Cantina sequence.
It’s really just Richard free styling and wandering around, mingling with and reacting to mute Star Wars aliens. Pretty cool to see the actual masks and costumes being used for a sketch.
Things to watch for:
“Fuzz” the bouncer shows up first around 2:20
Pryor cracks up around 3:08
We see a very 1977 arcade game around 4:00
There are Planet of the Apes Dr. Zaius jackets on various characters.
